Happy 7th Birthday, Esme!

We really wanted to show Esme how much we love her & enjoy her! I took her Wendy's for lunch & we had a nice date! I had the house decorated, but we failed to capture pictures. I had to brain storm for a long time and eventually I think I developed the right idea for her party. We created a bike treasure hunt and hid about 6 clues.

Each Sunday morning we go on a family bike ride and Esme LOVES that! We got her a real basket for her bike, and then discovered her tires were completely flat. She had to ride a too small bike, and was a cheerful sport.

This is the green belt that leads to Grandma's house & her elementary school.

This is the green bridge we pass each time we walk the green belt. It's significant because Edward tried to ride across it as a young school boy after a big rain. He was swept into the overflowing creek and a blessed runner came jogging by and grabbed him out!

We even duck-taped clues to trees!

Alice was a sweet participant! It is NOT easy to happily celebrate a day that is all about someone else.

We stopped at the school playground to play Esme's favorite game - the scary game! She & Alice made it up. It's a combination of tag, hide & go seek, and jumping out and scaring the hiders.

(Yes, it was made out of beans, whole wheat flour, plain yogurt, and only had a titch of sugar-I think I actually used honey!) It was good & healthy!

It was a really great day! Esme is a very special part of our family! She is very happy when she is helpful and loves to show you how grown up she is. She loves to play and spend time w/her sisters, and she is really doing well in school, primary, and piano! We love you, Esme!
