Temple Square with my Grandmothers!

Temple Square is always an uplifting place to visit! I really wanted to go and have my daughters see the beautiful Salt Lake Temple and the Christus statue. My two Grandmothers came along for our tour and it was lovely to be there with them! We started at the Museum of Church History and Art. It is one of the coolest museums and I honestly wished we had a whole day to devote to it. There was even an exhibit on the old Tabernacle and organ! Ah! Alas, we walked right through it to get the children to the I am a Child of God exhibit.

"I Am a Child of God", is an interactive exhibit for families. This exhibit is based on the words of the first verse of the song "I Am a Child of God", and is designed to help visitors learn about the Plan of Salvation at a very basic level. Visitors will understand that each earth life has a purpose and that they should strive to learn about and fulfill that purpose. The exhibit is full of interactive elements illuminating these ideas. 1 December 2006 to 11 January 2009; upper level

In one section the wall is painted to show children leaving heaven, an expecting couple walking into the hospital, and the nursery with all the newborns. By this wall are several baby dolls, blankets, plastic crib-like tubs, and bottles. The children pretend they are the nurses! It's awesome!
Dad helps Alice swaddle her baby.

Esme is dressing a doll.

Esme & Alice really got into it! It was hard to have them leave!

Isn't she beautiful?!

Oh, and there are tiny rocking chairs!

My little mothers in training!

There is also a place to tie a quilt.

Crystal and Callie!

My dear Grandma Gloria and her new grand daughter!

Camaron is at the station where you can color different symbols that appear on the Salt Lake Temple.

This is sweet Grandma Helen and Renesmee! They are near the nativity exhibit.

There are dress-ups so we could be part of that special scene!

Notice the several Mother Marys and baby Jesus's! (I'm the angel!)
Camaron is a handsome shepherd! He really liked dressing up and watching over his sheep!

Here is Grandma Gloria with Chase at the Construct Your Own Temple station. Some of his designs were magnificent!

Then it was across the street to Temple Square and the Christus statue, one of my favorite parts!

This is a replica of the Christus statue by Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen (1768-1844). This white carrara marble statue of Christ, with his hands outstretched, inviting all to come to him, help present the central doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: that Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God and the Savior and Redeemer of the world. Curious? Explore http://www.mormon.org/mormonorg/eng/ for more details.

It was a wonderful day! I'm so glad that we got to go with my family!
