Friday I kept Esme home from school, and Edward came home early so we could set up camp before dark.

Dad & Edward put up the tents,

and made the fire, and I got out my guitar!

We even had somewhat real facilities.

We had hot dogs & sweet potato fries for dinner.

It was delish! Esme was a big fan!

And, Edward made me a birthday cake in his dutch oven, that was really good!

Grandpa was really good at distracting Renesmee. She didn't get a nap so she was wired and kept running all around the camp fire.

Esme & Grandpa

It was so fun to look across the fire and see my Dad sitting there!

It has been FAR TOO LONG between our visits.

We went to bed early because I was getting very tense about all the almost-trips-into-the-fire we were having. I forgot to get the girls' sleeping bags so Edward forfeited his for them. He never ceases to amaze me! He slept cold all night because he loves us more than himself. He even got up with Alice twice to take her to the ladies room! Around dawn we all woke up to the calls of a hoot owl & something else we couldn't identify.
Good morning!

Esme & Alice insisted on calling Renesmee "Piglet" because she was "small & pink!"

We had breakfast burritos.

I tried to capture how cute Renesmee is when we pray!

Then we went for a walk down by the creek.

Good morning, Dad!

We walked up on the bridge...

Edward stayed down to shoot the picture.

The girls found "the hugest spider I have EVER seen!"

It was a grand-daddy long leg. You can see it's brown body, kind of.

Renesmee came over and smacked it like a mosquito. She ain't afraid!
